WELCOME TO Finesse Chiropractic

I became a chiropractor in the Lacey simply because I love this area and have lived in the area for close to 30 years.

Our office is located in the Lacey Crossroads shopping center--with easy in and out access--near the intersection of College Street and Yelm Highway.

Marvin is continually striving to improve his skills and knowledge by regularly attending continuing education classes. His tag line “Gentle Adjusting with Results” exemplifies his desire to provide the highest level of care possible for his patients.

Some common conditions care in this office has helped include neck pain, headaches, upper and middle back pain, low back pain, sciatic pain, and arm/hand pain or numbness and tingling. It’s also worth stating that many diagnoses of Carpal Tunnel, Tennis Elbow, and shoulder tendonitis or bursitis are very often a result of spinal problems in the upper thoracic region and are often mis-diagnosed by medical specialists—simply because the medical profession doesn’t recognize the connection between the spine and nervous system.

The most common misconception in chiropractic by far is the idea that it’s a misalignment or “bone out of place”. How many times have you heard people say “My back’s out”, or chiropractors tell their patients “you’re out of alignment, so I’m going to put your spine back into place.”?

The problem with this paradigm is simply that it is incorrect, and that none of the research supports the misalignment/bone out of place paradigm; whereas all of the research supports the joint dysfunction paradigm. In other words, the purpose of the spine is not to be in perfect alignment, but rather to allow for motion between spinal vertebrae, thereby providing for a great deal of spinal mobility or range of motion.

When spinal joints lose their full and free range of motion due to trauma and/or chronic strain, this is called joint dysfunction. Joint dysfunction then produces pressure on the nervous system, or nerve interference. This is not just semantics. The big deal here is that if you’re looking for the wrong thing—misalignment—you’re probably going to find the wrong thing—in other words, adjust the wrong area. Dr. Marvin utilizes a technique called Motion Palpation for diagnosing and finding joint dysfunction, thereby assuring that he is in the correct area.

Our goal is to provide the best chiropractic care possible, utilizing gentle and specific diagnostic and adjusting techniques, resulting in optimal spinal and nervous system function.

Additionally, we strive to provide you with the knowledge that will empower you to take charge of your own health, and be the best that you can be.
